In 1977 Robyn Davidson trekked 1700 miles across the Australian outback with four camels and a dog. Her epic journey has been made into a film starring Mia Wasikowska.

At the age of 25 a young woman leaves her city life and studies decides to move to the town of Alice Springs, from where she plans a solo trek alone to the Indian Ocean, a distance of some 1,700 miles through sprawling Australian Desert. Accompanied by only her dog and four unpredictable camels, she sets off on a life-changing journey of self-discovery. Where she meets Sallay (John Flaus), a camel handler and works with him for months, in turn he agrees to teach her the art of camel training as camels are not the easiest of beasts to train.
After an years' hard work, training and preparations she finally becomes a proud owner of four camels: a mature, gelded male whom she named Dookie; a younger gelding, Bub; a female, Zeleika; and her calf, Goliath.
Along the way, she also meets National Geographic photographer Rick Smolan (Driver) who begins to photograph her voyage.

Journey was not really smooth, she encountered rain, heavy sandy winds, bull camels who tried to attack her camel Zeleika, her injured camels. her dog dies and so on. But she finds a suitable way out of everything, as she was determined to complete her adventurous voyage.
